- Details and product descriptionIntroduction:
This tree of the humid forest can reach 40 m high and 1 m in diameter, with simple evergreen leaves and it grows in the Amazonian forest. The bark and the wood heart are coloured red. Flowers are golden-yellow, small and actinomorphs (verticil parts are symmetrically laid out with respect to the flower axis), gynaeceum: 1 to 2 carpels. The fruit is a berry.
History:Native to the Amazonian forest (Brazil, Guyana), this tree was intensely exploited during the last century and today it is more and more difficult to find it. In the sixties, The production of EO rised up to 400 tons/year, that required the falling of 50,000 tons of wood. But the synthetic linalool replaced progressively the natural one, exept for some high class perfumes. Don't confuse Aniba rosaeodora with the other specie ( Dalbergia sp.) called also "Rosewood", but used for cabinet making. The name comes from its "rosy" fragrance. Linalol is a floral-smelling molecule, slightly spiced and lemony.
