Patchouli is a silent botanical, its characteristic smell is revealed only after distillation. Following a first hydrodistillation, a dark red essential oil is obtained, loaded with dissolved iron. As for the clear essential oil, it is obtained after a washing process with an aqueous solution that retains the ionic molecules. This product has a rich earthy woody smell, balsamic with a tobacco and camphor nuance.
